The Space Coast Health Foundation in Melbourne, Florida, has announced grants totaling more than $1.87 million to twenty-six organizations and projects in Brevard County.
Awarded during the foundation's recently concluded 2016-17 fiscal year, the grants include large Venture Grants, which support single- or multiyear collaborative projects, and Pickett Responsive Grants to organizations that support health initiatives. The former include a grant of $1 million in partnership with Health First to the Brevard Health Alliance in support of the latter's efforts to expand access to care for individuals who do not have health insurance or have limited resources for health care. Recipients of Pickett Responsive grants include AMI Kids Space Coast, Brevard Cares, Club Esteem, and the Children's Hunger Project.
"It is an honor to be part of this effort that has already provided nearly $6.5 million in assistance to Brevard County in the past three years," said SCHF board chair James Dwight. "We are thrilled to see the progress being made in our community to create new opportunities for residents to gain access to health care, as well as to enhance existing services."
