The St. David's Foundation in Austin, Texas, has announced summer grants totaling more than $25 million in support of organizations working to provide more affordable health care to residents of the area.
To that end, more than $11 million in grants was awarded to safety net clinics that provide primary and preventive care to low-income families. Additional grants will support organizations working to provide mental health services for children and adults, provide future healthcare professionals with scholarships and other career development assistance, and provide dental care for vulnerable members of the community.
"Affordability is a significant challenge for Austin, and St. David's Foundation is stepping up to help," said Austin mayor Steve Adler. "For Austinites who rely on a safety net clinic, and for needy Austinites seeking mental health services, these grants go a long way toward helping to provide essential healthcare services. St. David's Foundation is a key partner in meeting our community’s affordability challenge, and I'd like to personally express my gratitude and appreciation."
