Sturm College of Law Receives $4 Million Challenge Grant

The University of Denver's Sturm College of Law has announced a $4 million challenge grant from the Sturm Family Foundation in support of a new scholarship program.

The Sturm Challenge will provide up to $4 million in matching funds for endowed scholarships and will complement the university's ongoing Momentum Scholarship Challenge. Through the combination of the foundation's support and the Momentum Challenge, donors who make a qualified gift or pledge of at least $50,000 will be able to endow their own named scholarship. The first $1 million in qualifying gifts will be tripled, elevating a $50,000 gift into a $150,000 endowment, while the next $3 million in qualifying gifts will be matched by a factor of 2.5, transforming a $50,000 gift into a $125,000 endowment. All the endowments will support competitive scholarships for top law students.

"For me, this gift is about excellence," said Donald L. Sturm. "Increasing our scholarship offerings will help us recruit great students who in turn will bolster the reputation of our instruction and have a positive impact within our city and state. The Sturm Family Foundation has invested significantly in this vision and knows others are ready to support it."
