The Taco Bell Foundation in Irvine, California, has announced scholarship awards totaling more than $4.6 million to five hundred and thirty-one students.
Selected from nearly thirteen thousand applicants, this year's class of Live Más Scholars includes ninety-six Taco Bell restaurant employees and two hundred and fifty-nine individuals who have previously received the scholarship, which provides between $5,000 and $25,000 to each recipient. In addition, recipients are eligible to participate in summer workshops conducted by MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership that offer networking and professional development opportunities. For Taco Bell employees, the scholarships complement the company's Start with Us, Stay with Us initiative, which encourages employees to participate in educational and leadership development programs.
"The overwhelming interest in our scholarship tells us that, now more than ever, there is a need for financial aid and support for passionate students," said Taco Bell Foundation director Jennifer Bradbury. "We are proud to play our part in easing the burden of college expenses while encouraging non-traditional students to achieve their goals and turn their dreams into reality."
