The TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable arm of TD Bank, has announced grants totaling $2.5 million in support of affordable housing initiatives.

Through the foundation's eighth annual Housing for Everyone competition, twenty-five nonprofits were awarded grants of $100,000 each to bolster transitional housing and the efforts of homeless shelters in twelve states and Washington, D.C. Grant recipients include Neighborhood Housing and Development Corporation in Gainesville, Florida; Community Housing of Maine in Portland; Lawrence Community Works in Massachusetts; Women in Need in New York City; Mountain Housing Opportunities in Asheville, North Carolina; and Pawtucket Citizens Development Corporation in Rhode Island.

"We are proud to award 'Housing for Everyone' grants to these outstanding organizations as they continue their efforts to stabilize communities and revitalize neighborhoods, and provide housing services to their many diverse populations," said TD Charitable Foundation president Elizabeth K. Warn. "Our goal is to build successful partnerships that benefit people in our communities, and the 'Housing for Everyone' grants will support the tremendous work of these non-profits as they strive to help the underserved."
