University of Minnesota Receives $25 Million From Land O'Lakes

The University of Minnesota has announced a ten-year, $25 million grant from Land O'Lakes, Inc. and the Land O'Lakes Foundation in support of academic and athletic programming at the university.

The grant — one of the largest corporate commitments in UM history and the largest ever made by the company and its foundation — will benefit academic programs, student athletes, scholarships, internship opportunities, and faculty research at the university, including $21 million in support of the Intercollegiate Athletics department and a new 60,000-square-foot Center for Excellence in a new Athletics Village; $3.3 million for programs at the new center; and more than $2.7 million in support of intercollegiate athletic sponsorships and events. In recognition of the grant, Land O'Lakes will receive naming rights to the center.

The remainder of the grant includes $2.5 million to establish an endowed Land O'Lakes chair in marketing at the Carlson School of Management; $1 million in support of scholarships and programing at the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences; $87,500 in support of programming at the College of Science and Engineering; and $375,000 for university-wide Welcome Week activities and an annual agriculture symposium.
