Since 2011, UPS employees around the world have logged 5.3 million hours of volunteer and community service. The new commitment represents a 12 percent increase in that number by the company and its employees. Going forward, the company will build on its past efforts in the areas of community development, youth education, and the environment, with nonprofits around the globe receiving volunteer assistance valued at more than $460 million by 2020.
"Voluntarism has always been an integral part of our company culture," said UPS CEO-elect David Abney. "Jim Casey [one of the company's founders] continually advocated for employees to give back to the communities in which they live and work."
