Wichita State University awarded $3.5 million for student scholarships

Wichita State University has announced a $3.5 million estate gift from a Kansas couple who wish to remain anonymous in support of student scholarships.

The gift to the WSU Foundation will endow a general scholarship fund for students with demonstrated financial need, with preference given to students from Kansas. According to guidelines stipulated by the donors, students will need to have a minimum 3.0 GPA and hold part-time employment to be eligible. At the current level of tuition and fees, the endowment will be able to fund scholarships covering half the cost of tuition for about thirty-five students annually.

"WSU has been important to our family," said the donors, "and we want to assure that future students continue to have access to transformational educational experiences at the university."
