Wilson Foundation Awards $2.5 Million to Bolster Startups

Launch NY, a Buffalo-based nonprofit that works to bolster startup companies in western and central New York, has announced a two-year, $2.5 million grant from the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation.

The largest grant in the organization's history will be used over two years to expand its pro bono startup mentoring program and integrate it with other entrepreneurial resources, create a seed fund, and underwrite regional assessments with national experts and partner organizations aimed at developing a long-term plan to drive and support entrepreneurial growth in upstate New York.

"With the introduction of our seed fund side by side with our established pro bono mentoring services, the timing of this award couldn't be better to fully scale up our support for startup businesses," said Marie LaVigne, president and CEO of Launch NY. "Additionally, we’ll bring a new round of strategic planning to our long term efforts to build a vibrant community."
