Woodruff Arts Center Receives $5 Million Gift

The Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta has announced a $5 million gift from the James M. Cox Foundation to its comprehensive fundraising campaign.

The center's Transformation Campaign is focused on three areas: endowment funding; capital improvements, including a renovation of the Alliance Theatre and improvements to the Memorial Arts Building; and family-oriented programming. With the gift from the foundation, the center has raised more than $94.8 million toward its $100 million campaign goal. Launched last year, the campaign is scheduled to run through 2016.

"We are extraordinarily grateful to the Cox Foundation for this wonderful grant," said Woodruff president and CEO Virginia Hepner. "The generosity of the Cox Foundation and the Cox family has been instrumental in the success of the Woodruff Arts Center, the High Museum of Art, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for decades. This new grant is another wonderful example of their enduring commitment to the city of Atlanta and its arts."
