YMCA of Central Florida Receives $8.9 Million for Family Center

The YMCA of Central Florida has announced a grant of $8.9 million from Dr. Phillips Charities for a new YMCA in Orlando's Packing District, a planned 202-acre, $480 million community development project near College Park.

The grant will support construction of a two-story, 24,500-square-foot YMCA Family Center that plays host to programs for the community while also integrating with the Packing District's park to allow both indoor and outdoor healthy-living activities. The project is scheduled to break ground in late 2019 and be completed in 2021.

"Strengthening communities is at the heart of our shared vision with the Dr. Phillips Charities," said YMCA of Central Florida president and CEO Dan Wilcox. "We are truly grateful for their longstanding support and generosity, which will enable us to build a brighter future together in healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility within this vibrant, new district."
