Mission: To empower policy makers, researchers, media, and other stakeholders with the open data, visualizations, and resources they need to lead and report on efforts to address climate change.
Background: Managed by the World Resources Institute in collaboration with others, Climate Watch is a flagship initiative of the NDC Partnership that brings together dozens of datasets related to individual country and global greehouse gas (GHG) emissions. Visitors can use the tools provided on the site to analyze and compare Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement, access historical emissions data, and map new pathways to a lower carbon future. The site also contributes to the goals of the Paris Agreement by increasing transparency and accountability around country-level emissions and provides actionable analysis with respect to how countries can strengthen their climate change efforts.
Outstanding Web Features: Visitors to the site can access data and visualizations related to country-level greenhouse gas emissions as well as a comprehensive database of all countries' Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs); use a comprehensive mapping application to identify potential alignment between the NDCs and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); explore emission scenario pathways for major GHG-emitting countries; explore national and sectoral profile pages and dive into future sector emissions projections; and (coming soon) download, create, save, and share customized data visualizations.
