Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation

The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation is dedicated to the improvement of the quality of life for future generations. The foundation's mission is to seek and develop projects that can make a substantive difference in the quality of life for individuals and for the overall future and health of the planet.

Purpose of Site:
The purpose of the foundation's newly launched Web site is to disseminate information about the foundation's grantmaking programs, organizational news, and grants application process.

Founded in November of 2000 with a multibillion-dollar donation from Gordon and Betty Moore, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation is a private family foundation dedicated to improving the quality of life for generations to come.

In keeping with the Moores' philanthropic interests, the foundation supports four major program areas: education, scientific research, the environment, and select San Francisco Bay Area projects. In each of these areas there exists a demonstrated need for financial support and the potential for making a difference. The foundation strives to fund projects that will further its mission — projects chosen through careful research, projects promising significant, measurable results.

Home Page:
The straightforward, no-nonsense design of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation Web site allows visitors to easily navigate through all its sections and learn about the foundation's grantmaking priorities.
