Mission: To raise awareness of the breadth and depth of youth grantmaking globally, build knowledge around youth grantmaking process and strategy, and drive collaboration and action within the youth grantmaking movement.
Background: Around the globe, young people are transforming their communities by making grants — more than $14 million since 2001 — to causes they're passionate about. As evidenced by Foundation Center's 2014 report Scanning the Landscape of Youth Philanthropy: Observations and Recommendations for Strengthening a Growing Field, the growth in youth giving over the last fifteen years has created a need for an online hub where data, knowledge, stories, and resources can be shared both locally and globally. Created by Foundation Center with support from the Andrus Family Fund, Leading to Change, and the Frieda C. Fox Family, Conrad N. Hilton, Charles Stewart Mott, and Tarsadia foundations, YouthGiving.org offers resources aimed at helping young philanthropists identify and apply best practices in their giving, share their knowledge and experiences, develop their leadership skills, and find potential partners.
Outstanding Web Features: Visitors to the site can explore an interactive funding map that shows who is funding what in youth philanthropy and where those grants are directed, as well as a grantmaking program directory searchable by country or state, program type, and age served; ask a question of a youth giving expert or be featured as an expert; browse reports, articles, and multimedia resources related to youth philanthropy; connect with others through webinars and social media; learn about youth philanthropy initiatives around the world; and/or share youth philanthropy grants data, program information, and resources with the experts at Foundation Center.
