Established in 1992 as the charitable arm of Minnesota-based Medica Health Plans, the Medica Foundation funds community-based initiatives and programs that support the health needs of Medica Health Plans customers and the broader Medica community.
The foundation recognizes that rural areas have specific health needs that are understood best by those within those communities and thus aims to support community-led solutions to health concerns in those areas. To that end, it is inviting applications for grants of $5,000 in support of rural health-related programming that advances an organization’s nonprofit mission.
To be eligible, applicants must be a tax-exempt nonprofit organization as defined by section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or a public/governmental agency and provide services beyond the seven-county Twin Cities metro area, as well as in North Dakota, South Dakota, and the following counties in western Wisconsin: Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Chippewa, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Pierce, Polk, Sawyer, St. Croix, and Washburn.
