The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation is accepting applications for its American Association of University Women/Wagy Fund.
Established in 1893, the Kansas City (MO) Branch of the American Association of University Women throughout its history has promoted education and scholarships for women in the region. Today, the organization encourages continuing education for its members through programs focused on local, national, and international issues.
Irene Wagy made a lifelong commitment and numerous significant personal and professional contributions to the branch and valued the opportunities AAUW afforded for service and friendship. In that spirit, the AAUW/Wagy Fund Committee is seeking proposals from organizations located in Kansas City, Missouri, in support of activities that promote societal change as well as programs that benefit women and girls. Grants of up to $4,000 will be awarded in support of effective programs that provide women and girls with economic opportunity and security; enhanced self-image in ways that are measurable; lifelong education; healthcare throughout their life cycle; personal safety; legal and human rights; reproductive rights; respect and opportunities for girls so that they are equally valued in their families and in society; and equal access with men to the political, economic, and cultural life of their communities.
Organizations must be a public charity and tax exempt as defined by section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Priority will be given to organizations headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri; however, proposals from organizations in the five-county Kansas City metro area, which includes Clay, Platte and Jackson counties in Missouri and Wyandotte and Johnson counties in Kansas, will be considered.
Statements of interest are due August 8, 2019. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal. The statement of interest application will be available on the GKCCF website starting July 8.
See the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
