The 2020 Census will face additional challenges and barriers reaching those in historically undercounted communities. To address these challenges, Massachusetts funders have come together to create the Massachusetts Census Equity Fund 2020, a statewide funding initiative with a mission to increase participation in the 2020 census in communities that are at significant risk of being undercounted.
Through the Census Equity Fund, grants of up to $15,000 will be awarded to community-based organizations in the state working to educate, organize, and empower residents in hard-to-count communities to participate in the 2020 Census.
To be eligible, applicants must be a nonprofit organization with a proven track record of working in Massachusetts. Grantees also must be willing to "open source" all materials developed through the grant with other grantees.
See the Massachusetts Census Equity Fund website for complete program guidelines, application instructions, and lists of historically hard-to-count communities in the state.
