The Colorado Health Foundation is inviting applications for its Nonprofit Sabbatical Program.
The program seeks to reward veteran nonprofit leaders in Colorado and strengthen the organizations they lead by offering funds for interim leadership and staff capacity building. Through the program, nonprofit executives receive the opportunity to step away from their professional responsibilities and take time for themselves for rejuvenation, with the aim of enabling them to step back into their professional life with new ideas and a fresh sense of commitment to their work, the nonprofit sector, and the health and health equity of all Coloradans.
The program will award two grants of up to $95,000 to nonprofit organizations in Colorado to support the following activities: a three- to four-month hiatus for a nonprofit executive during which s/he is able to pursue activities of their choice. Funding includes up to $20,000 for sabbatical activities (e.g., professional development, travel, personal activities); between $25,000 to $50,000 for salary and benefits; up to $10,000 for grantee interim leadership needs (individual or team); and up to $15,000 for grantee staff capacity-building needs.
Sabbatical participants will engage in three to four months of consecutive uninterrupted leave, free of work-related activities, and a one-month executive-in-residence at the Colorado Health Foundation.
To be eligible, applicants must be a Colorado-based executive director, CEO, or tribal administrator of a nonprofit organization working to bring health and health equity to all Coloradans; have served at least five years in a current executive role; and have at least seven years’ experience in an executive leadership role within the nonprofit sector. Organizations must be located in Colorado and operate as a tax-exempt public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
