The State Bar of New Mexico has issued an RFP for its Access to Justice Fund Grants program.
Through the program, grants will be awarded in support of proposals from nonprofit organizations that provide civil legal services to low-income residents of New Mexico. Both new and ongoing projects will be supported. Projects must be facilitated by organizations with a primary mission to deliver legal services to low-income persons, provide services using one or more of the service delivery methods identified in the current State Plan for the Provision of Civil Legal Services to Low-Income New Mexicans, and employ (not contract with) at least one full-time attorney who devotes at least 75 percent of his or her time to representation of low-income persons. Up to $900,000 will be awarded through this RFP.
To be eligible, organizations must be either tax exempt (or pending) under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or be an in-house legal department within a larger nonprofit organization with current or pending 501(c)(3) status that meets all other criteria.
Organizations intending to apply for an Access to Justice Fund Grant should first send an email to Vanessa Sanchez at email@example.com and provide: 1) a statement of intent to apply; 2) the name of the organization’s contact person; and 3) that person’s email, telephone number, and mailing address. Upon notification of intent to apply, prospective applicants will receive application materials and further instructions.
See the State Bar of New Mexico website for complete program guidelines, application instructions, and to access the State Plan.
