Since 1996, the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland has partnered with residents, nonprofits and community leaders to change the trajectory of poverty in Cuyahoga County. The organization works to improve the lives of those most in need, with special attention paid to families, women and children living in poverty, and efforts to end homelessness, reduce health disparities, and improve educational opportunities in Cleveland’s Central neighborhood.
To advance this mission, the organization is accepting applications to its Good Samaritan Grant Program. Through the program, grants of $5,000 will be awarded to nonprofit organizations in Northeast Ohio for which a modest grant would make a difference in their capacity to provide basic goods and services to individuals living in poverty. In 2020, grant awards will be prioritized according to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the applicant organization’s target population, its ability to provide necessary and immediate goods and services, and whether it has an annual budget of $1 million or less.
To be eligible, organizations must be tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and primarily serve residents of Cuyahoga County.
See the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland website for complete program guidelines, application instructions, and a list of previous grant recipients.
