American Humane Association Offers Care Grants for Abused and Neglected Animals

Through its Second Chance Fund, the American Humane Association provides financial assistance to animal welfare organizations and breed-specific rescue groups responsible for the temporary care of animals as they are prepared for adoption into permanent homes.

Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded to support medical procedures for animals that have been victims of abuse or neglect and require medical treatment before being placed for adoption.

Only nonprofit animal sheltering agencies and rescue groups that are recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code will be considered for grants.

Applications are accepted year-round but must be received no later than six months following the date of intake of the animal(s).

For complete program guidelines, stories of animals who have benefited from getting a second chance, and application instructions, see the American Humane Association website.
