The Rasmuson Foundation is accepting applications for its Sabbatical Program, an annual program designed to provide Alaska-based nonprofit and tribal executives with time away from the office for rest, personal renewal, and professional growth.
Grants of up to $40,000 will be awarded to an applicant’s organization to be used to cover his or her salary and expenses during the sabbatical. No distinction is made between large and small organizations.
To be eligible, the applicant must hold the position of CEO, president, executive director, or tribal administrator and be an Alaska resident with at least five years in the nonprofit sector and at least three years in his or her current position. In addition, the applicant's organization must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, tribal entity, or equivalent based in Alaska.
The two primary criteria for selection are the benefit of the sabbatical to the individual and the organization, and the demonstrated ability of the organization to sustain itself in the executive's absence. The application requires a written plan for how the organization will be managed in the leader's absence and a letter from the organization's board endorsing the executive's decision to apply for the sabbatical.
