The Artist Trust is inviting nominations for the Irving and Yvonne Twining Humber Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement.
The unrestricted award of $10,000 is given annually to a female visual artist in Washington State, age 60 or over, who has dedicated twenty-five years or more of her life to creating art. The award recognizes creative excellence, professional accomplishment, and dedication to the visual arts.
The Humber Award was established by a gift to the Artist Trust Endowment from Yvonne Twining Humber. A practicing Washington State artist herself, Twining envisioned the award as a way to provide recognition to female artists who, oftentimes, have interrupted or postponed their art-making to answer to the demands of family life.
Any resident of the United States may nominate an artist, as long as the artist is 60 years of age or older, has dedicated twenty-five years or more to creating art, and is a Washington State resident at the time of nomination and payment of the award.
See the Artist Trust website for complete program guidelines and nomination instructions.
