East Bay Community Foundation Seeks Applications for New Work by Local Artists

The East Bay Community Foundation has issued an RFP for the commissioning of new works by Bay Area artists.

Grants of up between $500 and $8,000, to be matched by donor contributions on a 1-to-1 basis, will be awarded to artists and nonprofit organizations for the creation of new works. The goals of the program are to support the creation of new works by local artists and East Bay organizations; support composers, playwrights, choreographers, visual, and media artists in the Bay Area; engage Bay Area donors in arts production; support a diversity of artistic practices and organizations; and/or provide opportunities for communities of color to experience art that represents their culture and history.

Eligible organizations include nonprofit exhibition spaces, performance presenters, media outlets, and arts organizations located in Alameda or Contra Costa counties. Commissions must be for new work by a Bay Area resident, and the funding must be allocated for the lead artists’ fees only.  In addition, the work must be presented in the East Bay.
