The Bush Foundation is accepting applications for the 2018 Bush Fellowship Program.
Since 1965, the Bush Foundation has worked to develop the leadership capacity of the region it serves by making investments in more than twenty-two hundred people through its fellowship programs. The Bush Fellowship provides individuals in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota with opportunities to increase their capacity for leadership by pursuing learning experiences that will increase their knowledge and help them develop important leadership skills and attributes, especially in the areas of communications, self-awareness, creativity, cultural competency, and cross-sector leadership. A Bush Fellowship also is intended to provide the recipient with access to opportunities and experiences they otherwise might not have.
Fellows are awarded up to $100,000 to be used over twelve to twenty-four months. Funds can be used to cover expenses such as tuition, fees for workshops and seminars, travel, and equipment purchases that are necessary to carry out a project.
To be eligible, all applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States; be at least twenty-four years old at the time of the application deadline; and have lived uninterruptedly for a year immediately prior to the application deadline in either Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or one of the twenty-three Native nations that share the same geographic area.
