Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Invites Applications for NJ Artist Fellowships

The Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation is accepting applications for the New Jersey State Council on the Arts Individual Artist Fellowships program.

In 2018, fellowships will be awarded to practicing New Jersey artists in the fields of interdisciplinary performance, photography, playwriting, or the crafts to enable them to pursue their artistic goals. Awards are based solely on demonstrated artistic excellence and not on other merits that may be associated with any project or other factors.

Artists may use their fellowship awards to pursue work in their artistic discipline, the purchase of supplies, workshops, renting studio space, or otherwise freeing up their time. Fellowship funds may not be used for travel out of the country, study as a matriculated student in either a graduate or undergraduate program, or to purchase permanent equipment (equipment with a resale value exceeding $350 or having a lifespan of more than three years).

Only artists who currently reside in the State of New Jersey are eligible to apply. Applicants may not be a matriculated student in a graduate, undergraduate, or high school program at the time of application or award.

In the past, fellowship awards have ranged between $7,000 and $12,000. The amount of the award is determined annually by the council from funding provided through the NJ Hotel/Motel tax. Because fellowships are awarded to applicants who demonstrate the highest artistic excellence, there is no award quota per atistic discipline or style.

The foundation will host webinars for prospective applicants on May 26 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. and on June 29 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. (EST)

See the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
