The Durham Arts Council in Durham, North Carolina, is accepting applications from local artists for its 2018 Emerging Artist Program grant.
Now in its thirty-third year, the annual program provides financial support to developing or established professionals for projects that are pivotal to the advancement of their career as artists. Because such projects may happen at different stages of a career, Emerging Artists grants are not restricted to new or emerging artists.
Grants of up to $1,500 will be awarded in support of artistic projects in the areas of painting/drawing, photography, installation, film/video, drama, literature, printmaking/mixed media, craft, sculpture, dance, and music.
To be eligible, applicants must be an individual artists (not an ensemble or group). In addition, applicants must have resided in Chatham, Durham, Granville, Orange, or Person counties for at least a year immediately prior to the application deadline (i.e., since September 22, 2016), be at least 18 years of age, and not be currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program in their discipline.
