In 2007, the Road Runners Club of America developed the Kids Run the Nation Fund to assists running clubs and schools that are interested in implementing or currently have a youth running program. Since then, RRCA has awarded grants totaling $175,000 and donated thousands of program guides and youth booklets to youth programs around the United States.
To advance this mission, RRCA will award grants of up to $1,000 to running clubs and other nonprofits organizations in support of structured youth running programs that use RRCA youth running materials. Program goals must include motivating kids to run regularly (at least once a week for multiple weeks), as opposed to participating in a single event. Funds may be used to purchase marketing materials; host a program website; offset fees for permits or usage fees for a local park or running track; purchase hydration supplies; purchase participation awards (ribbons, shirts, patches, etc); and/or purchase mileage logs or other written materials.
Running clubs, running event sponsors, and other organizations with an IRS 501(c)(3) tax exempt designation are eligible to apply. Elementary and middle schools that provide an organized afterschool running programs also are eligible.
The grant application period will open August 1 and close October 1, 2017.
