The Evergreen Foundation was formed in 1977 as a separate nonprofit organization by the board of Smoky Mountain Mental Health to help improve the lives of those with mental health, developmental delay, or substance abuse issues in North Carolina's Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Jackson, Macon, and Swain counties.
To advance this mission, the foundation is accepting applications for its December grants cycle. Activities supported by the foundation include infrastructure that strengthens the service-delivery network in the region; startup and service provision grants; scholarships that enhance the quality of the provider network; public awareness/education; and advocacy on behalf of consumers and provider networks.
Grant amounts will range between $5,000 and $30,000.
To be eligible, applicants must be a nonprofit agency serving communities within the seven-county region of western North Carolina.
See the Evergreen Foundation website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
