The Rhode Island Foundation is accepting applications for the Carter Fellowship for Entrepreneurial Innovation, an annual program designed to stimulate solutions to challenges in the state.
The Carter Fellowship is built around the spirit of entrepreneurship and seeks to achieve community impact by supporting an individual's creativity and potential and giving him/her the freedom to apply creative and fresh thinking to an important challenge. By innovation, the foundation means a new, novel, or re-energized approach. By impact, the foundation is looking for results — tangible benefits for a significant number of Rhode Islanders, significant scale, and/or observable progress on significant and longstanding challenges.
With those goals in mind, grants of up to $200,000 over four years will be awarded to support the testing and implementation of innovative ideas with the potential to dramatically improve an area of life in Rhode Island. Up to three fellows will be selected.
To be eligible, applicants must be a Rhode Islander age 18 or older. Recipients also must commit to staying in Rhode Island for the four-year duration of the fellowship.
See the Rhode Island Foundation website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
