The American Psychoanalytic Association is seeking nominations for its 2018 Award for Excellence in Journalism.
Established in 1999, the annual prize recognizes professional reporting of outstanding merit that contributes in an exceptional way to the public understanding of psychoanalytic and psychological principles and phenomena. The award, which is juried by a panel of professional journalists and psychoanalysts, comes with a $1,000 prize.
Any person (including authors of articles) may nominate an article for consideration. To be eligible, work must have been written in English, intended for the layperson, and have first been published between July 1, 2017, and June 30, 2018.
Nominated work need not be specifically about psychoanalysis or psychotherapy and may critique or question psychoanalysis, as long as it advances understanding of human relationships and/or the life of the mind.
See the American Psychoanalytic Association's website for a list of previous award winners, as well as eligibility and application guidelines.
