The Korea Arts Foundation of America is a Los-Angeles-based nonprofit organization that promotes creativity, research, study, and exhibitions in the arts. The foundation encourages cooperation and free exchange among those who are interested in the arts, provides educational facilities and services to persons and organizations engaged in all forms of artistic studies, and helps coordinate, plan, organize, and execute art projects.
As part of its mission, KAFA is accepting applications for ithe2018 KAFA Award for the Visual Arts. Through the program, the foundation selects one artist biennially (even-numbered year) to receive a $15,000 cash prize. The purpose of the award is to facilitate the winning artist's ability to execute his/her creative endeavors, encourage and nurture his/her artistic accomplishments, and acknowledge the presence of outstanding Korean-American artists in Southern California.
In addition to the cash prize, the selected recipient's artwork will have the opportunity to exhibit his/her work in the Los Angeles area.
To be eligible, applicants must be either an American citizen of Korean ancestry, a Korean with permanent residency status in the U.S., or an individual has been approved by the KAFA board. In addition, applicants must demonstrate a continued commitment to the visual arts and should have received some professional recognition. Full-time students are not eligible for the award.
An application fee of $30 must be made payable to KAFA.
