The Society for Neuroscience is seeking nominations for the 2018 Mika Salpeter Lifetime Achievement Award.
The annual award recognizes an individual with outstanding career achievements in neuroscience who has also worked to promote the professional advancement of women in the field. The recipient will receive a $5,000 prize and complimentary registration, transportation (economy air or ground), and two nights hotel accommodations for the SfN annual meeting, where the society's president will present the prize at a lecture and the recipient will be honored at the Celebration of Women in Neuroscience Luncheon.
To be eligible, nominees must have exhibited dedication to facilitating the mentoring and entry of young women into neuroscience and/or the advancement of women in the field; sustained achievement in the field as evidenced by publications, inventions, and/or awards; and service to the profession through SfN and/or related organizations. In addition, nominees must be recognized at the national or international level as a scientist, educator, businessperson, or administrator in neuroscience, and demonstrate a high degree of imagination, innovation, and initiative in the pursuit of neuroscience.
SfN will begin accepting nominations on March 6.
