The Jared Polis Foundation is committed to enhancing technology learning opportunities for children in Colorado. Through its partnership with Community Computer Connection, computers donated by individuals and corporations are refurbished and distributed to schools and nonprofits for a small administrative fee. The foundation has created a technology mini-grant program to enhance and expand the utility of these computers or other existing classroom technology.
Through the program, grants of up to $1,500 may be requested by teachers in Colorado for the purchase of hardware such as digital or video cameras, interactive whiteboards, and tablets, e-readers, and chromebooks; the purchase of software or technology curriculum materials; or to pay for technology conference registration fees. (Applicants may request tablets and chromebooks but may not request wi-fi access or capital improvements in support of technology.)
The technology requested by teachers must be used by the teacher who applies for it (i.e., teachers, not technology specialists, coordinators or grant writers, should apply).
For complete program guidelines and application instructions, as well as information about past grant recipients, see the Polis Foundation website.
