NCTM Accepting Proposals for Teacher Professional Development Grants

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics supports math teachers with the goal of ensuring equitable mathematics learning of the highest quality for all students through vision, leadership, professional development, and research.

To that end, NCTM is accepting applications for its Teacher Professional Development Grants for Grades 6–8 Teachers program, which supports professional development of one or more middle school classroom math teachers.

For 2018–19, grants of up to $3,000 each will be awarded to persons currently teaching mathematics in grades 6-8. Applications for a grant must delineate the teacher(s) professional development plan and address how the proposed project will improve the teacher(s)’ competence and affect students’ learning. While the grant does not fund the purchase of technology, proposals that include the use of technology to enhance student learning are encouraged.

To be eligible, applicants must be a current NCTM member and teach mathematics in grades 6-8 at least 50 percent of the school day.

For complete program guidelines and application instructions, see the NCTM website.
