American Heart Association Accepting Applications for 2018 NYC Community Impact Grant Program

The American Heart Association is accepting applications to ts 2018 NYC Community Impact Grant program from nonprofit organizations with a focus on expanding healthy food access for children living in underserved communities in the five boroughs of New York City.

Currently, 1.2 million NYC residents live in lower-income communities with limited access to healthy food retail — neighborhoods that often also struggle with high rates of unemployment and diet-related chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.

Priority will be given to proposals that promote systemic change through strong, outcome-focused initiatives (including but not limited to community collaborations, environmental and programmatic interventions, and policy advocacy) that target priority neighborhoods most burdened by a limited access to healthy food.

Grant amounts will range between $15,000 and $90,000 over the twelve month term of the grant.

To be eligible, applicants must be a nonprofit organization with a focus and/or concentration on expanding healthy food access for children living in underserved neighborhoods in the five boroughs of New York City. Collaborative applications with local, state, or federal agencies are encouraged.

See the American Heart Association website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
