The Durham Arts Council in Durham, North Carolina, is accepting applications from local artists for its 2019 Emerging Artist Program grant.
Now in its thirty-third year, the annual program provides financial support to developing or established professionals for a project pivotal to the advancement of their careers as artists. Because such projects may happen at different stages of a career, Emerging Artists Grants are not restricted to as-yet-not-established artists.
Grants of up to $1,500 will be awarded to artists working in the areas of painting/drawing, photography, installation, film/video, drama, literature, printmaking/mixed media, craft, sculpture, dance, or music.
To be eligible, applicants must be an individual artist — not an ensemble or group. In addition, applicants must have resided in Chatham, Durham, Granville, Orange, or Person counties for at least one year immediately prior to the application deadline (since September 21, 2017). Applicants also must be at least 18 years of age and cannot be currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program in their art form at the time of the application deadline.
For complete program guidelines, information about information sessions and previous grant recipients, and application instructions, see the Durham Arts Council website.
