IRA Invites Proposals for 2019 Teacher as Researcher Grant

More than 56,000 members strong, the association supports literacy professionals through a wide range of resources, advocacy efforts, voluntarism, and professional development activities.

The association currently is seeking proposals for the 2019 ILA Nila Banton Smith Teacher as Researcher Grant program.

Through the program, grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to teachers who conduct research inquiries in their classrooms and demonstrate outstanding leadership in translating theory and current research into practice in developing content area literacy.

To be eligible, applicants must be an IRA member in good standing and a practicing pre-K-12 teacher with full- or part-time classroom teaching responsibilities.

For complete program guidelines, information about previous grant recipients, a sample proposal, and application instructions, see the International Research Association website.
