The Azrieli Foundation has issued a Call for Applications from Canadian or Canada-educated scholars for its Azrieli Fellows Program, which aims to promote excellence in research and graduate studies at accredited institutions of higher learning in Israel.
Established in 2007, the annual program provides financial support to scholars from Israel and Canada with the goal of helping them become leaders in their respective fields, raising Israel's profile internationally, and maintaining strong academic and professional links between Israel and the rest of the world. To that end, the program provides fellows with tools to realize their professional goals through collaborative association with Israel’s world-class academic institutions and researchers.
Fellowships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence. Candidates are assessed on their potential to make cutting-edge contributions to their respective fields. Aspects of leadership abilities and community engagement also are taken into consideration without regard to race, religion, gender, ethnicity, or age.
Participating Israeli Institutions include Bar-Ilan University, Ben-Gurion University, the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Tel Aviv University, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the University of Haifa, and the Weizmann Institute of Science
The program is open to scholars at the postdoctoral level who are Canadian citizens or have completed a doctorate at a Canadian university.,
