The New York State Health Foundation has a broad mission to improve the health of the state’s residents, especially the most vulnerable. To that end, its current priority areas include building healthy communities, empowering healthcare consumers, and improving the health of veteran’s in the state.
With a goal to improve opportunities for professional development, the foundation has issued an RFP for individuals working in community-based organizations, health departments, and other low-resource organizations to attend/present at local, state, and national conferences in the areas of healthy communities, consumer empowerment, and veteran’s health. The overarching goal of the program is to help build networks, shape projects, raise professional awareness, set the stage for future work, and/or build the field of health as its relates to NYSHF priority areas.
Scholarships of up to $2,000 per person will be awarded to up to two attendees from an organization (maximum of $4,000), which may be used for registration fees, travel, lodging, and incidentals while attending the conference.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. Applicants must complete and submit an online application, which is available along with the application instructions in the Apply for Funding section of the NYSHealth website. All applicants will be notified about the outcome of their applications within three weeks of online submission. Funds are not retroactive and will not be approved for past conferences or events attended. Funds for approved applications will be distributed only when a conference registration opens and not before.
Eligible applicants include health departments, community-based organizations, nonprofits, and other low-resource organizations. Government agencies may apply through a fiduciary agency with 501(c)(3) status. Applicants must be located in New York State.
