The American Thoracic Society works to improve health worldwide by advancing research, clinical care, and public health in respiratory disease, critical illness, and sleep disorders.
To help advance this mission, ATS is accepting applications for the 2019 ATS Foundation Nursing Research Award. Through the program, a single grant of $8,000 will be awarded to a licensed, registered nurse with a PhD who is interested in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.
ATS has a particular interest in proposals that have a high likelihood to advance the understanding of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep, with the goal of preventing these conditions and improving patient outcomes. Presentation by the researcher is expected at an ATS international conference within two years of the completion of his/her research.
Applications in basic, translational, and clinical science, pediatrics and adult medicine, and patient-oriented and public health topics are encouraged.
Letters of Intent are due by June 17. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application by August 1, 2019.
To be eligible, applicants must be a junior investigator (defined as within twelve years of a terminal degree) who has never received a non-mentored grant greater than $100,000 per year. At least one of the key personnel on the team must be an ATS member at the time of application. International applicants are eligible to apply but must have a visa that spans the grant period if they are not a citizen of or currently based in the U.S.
See the American Thoracic Society website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
