100 Resilient Cities, Microsoft Partner on Cybersecurity Strategies

Established in 2013 by the Rockefeller Foundation, 100 Resilient Cities has announced a partnership with the Microsoft Corporation to help cities develop cybersecurity strategies and combat online threats.

Microsoft will join 100RC's Platform Partners, a group of organizations from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, and, through its CityNext initiative, will provide select cities in the 100RC Network with information about best practices and resources regarding cybersecurity strategies; access to experts who can help them prioritize their cybersecurity needs; and facilitation of cybersecurity knowledge exchanges at 100RC-organized workshops.

"As governments become increasingly reliant on digital communications and commerce, cybersecurity has emerged as a top priority for our cities," said 100RC managing director Michael Berkowitz. "By partnering with an industry leader such as Microsoft, we are helping our cities build resilience so they can serve their citizens better in both good times and bad, and more ably address the challenges they face in a twenty-first-century world."
