Arkansas Children's Hospital Receives $5 Million for Rural Hospital

J.B. Hunt Transport Services has announced a $5 million gift to Arkansas Children's Hospital to build a new pediatric care facility that will serve the rural northwestern region of the state.

The gift will support construction of Arkansas Children's Northwest in Springdale, a freestanding children's hospital on thirty-seven acres of land donated by Robin and Gary George, Cathy and David Evans, and their families. Plans for the hospital, which is expected to open in January 2018, include twenty-four inpatient beds, thirty emergency department and urgent care exam rooms, thirty clinic exam rooms, five operating rooms, and diagnostic services. The hospital's grounds also will include walking trails, gardens, and a helipad and refueling station.

"The significance of this gift is profound — it underscores three decades of history J.B. Hunt has with Arkansas Children's Hospital as well as its tireless commitment to ensuring Northwest Arkansas continues to be one of our nation's most flourishing communities," said Marcy Doderer, president and CEO of Arkansas Children's. "J.B. Hunt's corporate citizenship is unwavering, and we are thrilled to continue our partnership as we realize this bold vision for care close to home."
