The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties has announced that area donors contributed over $700,000 to more than sixty organizations in the wake of Hurricane Irma. In anticipation of Irma's landfall, a group of seven funders, including CFPBMC, Allegany Franciscan Ministries, the Celia Lipton Farris and Victor W. Farris Foundation, and the Lost Tree Village Charitable Foundation, met to create a streamlined application process for local nonprofits. The resulting emergency funding enabled local nonprofits to provide Palm Beach County residents with food, needed supplies, housing, counseling, and general support services — even as those agencies were dealing with the impact of the storm on their own staff and facilities.
