Florida

The Southwest Florida Community Foundation in Fort Myers has announced grants totaling $350,000 to twelve organizations in the region. The grants are the first awarded since the foundation introduced a new application process designed to simplify things for nonprofits and encourage more collaborations and funding for projects from others in the community. Recipients include Amigos en Cristo, the Hendry County Library System, Redlands Christian Migrant Association, and the Gulf Coast Humane Society.

Kentucky

The Community Foundation of Louisville has announced that the Lawrence Foundation, a component fund started by actress Jennifer Lawrence, is holding a special screening of Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 on Wednesday, November 19. Proceeds will support the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana, while fans who dress up as their favorite Hunger Games characters will compete for best costume and a film poster autographed by the actress.

Maine

Meredith H. Jones will step down as president and CEO of the Ellsworth-based Maine Community Foundation at the end of 2015, the Sun Journal reports. During her tenure, the foundation has established a set of priorities in the areas of community revitalization, higher education attainment, and leadership development.

Minnesota

The Three Rivers Community Foundation has announced grants totaling $34,383 to fifteen organizations serving the Elk River area school district. Recipients include Rivers of Hope, True Friends, Arc United, and the Cornerstone Women's Center.

Missouri

The Community Foundation of the Lake in Lake Ozark has appointed Doug Olsson to its board of directors.

New York

A group of students at Ogdensburg Free Academy will assist the Northern New York Community Foundation in Watertown in administering $10,000 in grants, North Country Now reports. Thirteen students have been invited to participate, and in October they selected an executive council.

Vermont

The Middlebury-based Vermont Community Foundation has announced thirty-five grants totaling $69,379 in support of projects in towns across the state. The foundation's Small and Inspiring program funds nonprofit work that connects people with their neighbors, their land, and their history. Grants ranging from $250 to $2,500 were awarded to the Oldcastle Theatre Company, the Burlington Writers Workshop, Laraway Youth and Family Services, and Rutland Area Farm and Food Link.
