Alaska

The Juneau Community Foundation has announced that its Youth and Education funds have awarded their first grants. Grants totaling $31,720 were awarded to Juneau Alaska Music Matters, Discover Tech, and the Trauma Informed Schools Pilot Project.

California

The San Diego Foundation has announced that hundreds of scholarship awards are available for San Diego students pursuing higher education. The 2018-19 Common Scholarship Application is available online until February 1 at 2:00 p.m.

Connecticut

The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven has announced that it is supporting "Criminal Justice Insider," a radio show on New Haven independent radio station WNHH. The show, which airs the first Friday of every month, is aligned with the foundation's incarceration and re-entry strategy. The foundation also announced a grant to Connecticut Health Investigative Team in support of in-depth reporting on heath disparities in the region and access to care.

Indiana

The Central Indiana Community Foundation in Indianapolis has announced thirteen recipients of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships for Marion and Hamilton counties. Each student will receive up to four years of full tuition to attend an accredited public or private nonprofit college or university in Indiana.

Kentucky

The Community Foundation of Louisville has announced the appointment of four new members to its board of directors. The new members are Angie Evans, director of corporate responsibility at LG&E and KU Energy LLC; Michael Gough, COO and executive vice president at Norton Healthcare; social entrepreneur and nonprofit leader Lopa Mehrotra; and Elizabeth Rounsavall, business and investment leader.

Michigan

The Community Foundation of Greater Flint has announced that the Gen Forward Network, one of the foundation's giving circles, has awarded $15,880 to Carriage Town Ministries to expand its Blueline Donuts employment program. The grant dollars were contributed by the sixty-four giving circle members, who also decided on the area of interest and voted on their favorite proposal. The winning project will provide full-time employment (two bakers, a cashier, and a supervisor) to four Flint residents.

New Hampshire

The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation in Concord has announced the creation of a scholarship in the name of the late Albert Duvall Quigley, an artist, musician, and frame-maker. The scholarship will provide assistance to students from the Monadnock region who are pursuing postsecondary education in the visual arts, with recipients selected based on their creativity, passion for the arts, and financial need. The scholarship was launched by a group of people, including artists, writers, and educators, who joined together to mount an exhibit of Quigley's work at the Historical Society of Cheshire County in Keene.

Pennsylvania

The Pittsburgh Foundation has announced the appointment of Fred Brown as president and CEO of the Forbes Funds, an affiliate of the foundation. Brown, who has served as president and CEO of Homewood Children's Village since 2015, will succeed Kate Dewey, a veteran nonprofit consultant, business owner, and corporate executive who has headed the Forbes Funds for the last four years. Brown has spent thirty years in community building and organizational development in the city's East End neighborhoods and in Charlotte, North Carolina. When her retirement becomes official at the end of the month, Dewey will move into a consulting role, focusing on the funds' signature social innovation agenda, which includes the UpPrize Social Innovation Challenge.

Vermont

The Addison Community Athletics Foundation, a supporting organization of the Vermont Community Foundation, has announced that Erin Morrison has been promoted to a full-time role as program and communications manager. Morrison has been working in a part-time position since late 2015 and will continue to oversee ACAF's programs and further its mission to provide opportunities for people in Addison County to play and stay active.
