Georgia

The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta has announced Dad's Garage Theatre and Families First as the recipients of its 2015 Managing for Excellence awards. Sponsored by the Boston Consulting Group, the award recognizes organizations in the region that demonstrate attributes common to Fortune 500 companies. Each winner receives $75,000, a short-term consulting engagement with the Boston Consulting Group, a marketing package, inclusion in the foundation's An Extra Wish publication, and guest appearances at a number of high-profile events in the Atlanta area.

Hawaii

The Hawaii Community Foundation in Honolulu and Unbound Philanthropy have established a new grant program — the HCF Dream Fund —to provide outreach and support to thousands of undocumented youth immigrants in Hawaii, the Pacific Business News reports. Five local nonprofits were awarded $150,000 from the fund in support of their efforts to assist DREAMers through the Hawaii Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Outreach Program, a state-administered extension of the federal DACA program that allows undocumented immigrants to work and attend school without fear of deportation for a two-year period.

Indiana

The Indianapolis Foundation has awarded grants totaling $1.7 million in support of thirty-nine organizations working in Marion County. Recipients include Best Buddies, Dance Kaleidoscope, the Fletcher Place Community Center, and Horizon House.

Kansas

The Central Kansas Community Foundation has announced that its Hesston Community Foundation affiliate coordinated four community events involving nearly a thousand people in recognition of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Hesston tornado, an F5 storm that struck on Marh 13, 1990, devastating several rural towns in the area and killing a child. Collaborating with other community partners from the Hesston Public Library, Hesston College, and USD 460, the events began with HC Disaster Management students marking a walking path for the community that followed the path of the storm. The library also presented the community with a comprehensive collection of materials and artifacts, while a website filled with personal accounts gathered by an oral historian was launched during the anniversary week.

Ohio

The Dayton Foundation has announced that it is requesting Letters of Intent for the second Del Mar Social Innovation Award for Older Adult Programming. The award recognizes innovations from nonprofit organizations in the greater Dayton area that demonstrate breakthrough thinking in helping to address issues facing adults age 55 and older. One or more organizations may be selected to receive the award and share the maximum grant amount of $100,000. The deadline to submit a completed LOI is June 1, 2015.

Pennsylvania

The Erie Community Foundation has announced that Venango Training and Development Center has been selected to administer the Erie Summer Jobs and More Program, which is designed to enhance the employability of disconnected young people in the area and give them practical exposure to future career paths. Launched a year ago, the JAM Program is a collaborative effort of the County of Erie, Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority, and the foundation. This year, the program will include longitudinal tracking to measure the program’s impact on the lives of participants.

Wisconsin

The Greater Milwaukee Foundation has announced that nearly $3.5 million was raised during its fourth annual Match Day event, including $2,235,902 from 5,484 individuals and $401,650 from foundation donors. Those gifts were proportionately matched with money from a pool of $845,000 in matching funds provided by GMF, its donors and board members, as well as many community supporters, including the Brewers Community Foundation, the Ceres Foundation, Meijer, the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County, and the Faye McBeath Foundation.
