Alabama

The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham has announced that its LGBTQ Fund is seeking proposals to address the most pressing needs in the area's LGBTQ community, including the unmet needs of LGBTQ youth, strengthening the infrastructure of LGBTQ-led and –serving organizations, advancing networking and collaboration between LGBTQ-related organizations, and supporting nonprofit partners working on public policy at the intersection of LGBTQ concerns and other social justice issues. Grants of up to $3,000 will be awarded in the fund's inaugural grant cycle.

Alaska

The Alaska Community Foundation has awarded grants totaling more than $45,000 to ten nonprofits, YourAlaskalink.com reports. The capacity-building grants will help organizations in areas such as fund development, donor cultivation, and training.

California

The La Jolla Community Foundation, an affiliate of the San Diego Foundation, has announced that it will award $40,000 in grants to organizations working to enhance the city's infrastructure and beautify the community. The deadline to apply is May 17.

Colorado

The Community Foundation Serving Boulder County has appointed David Brantz as chairman of its board.

Georgia

The Community Foundations National Standards Board, part of the Council on Foundations, has elected Hazle Hamilton, executive vice president of the Macon-based Community Foundation of Central Georgia, as its new president. Hamilton will succeed R. Randall "Randy" Royster in that position.

Louisiana

The Community Foundation of North Louisiana in Shreveport has announced grants totaling $2.5 million, including $601,000 from the United Way of Northwest Louisiana Grant Fund. Recipients include the Caddo Council on Aging, the CoHabitat Foundation, the Film Prize Foundation, and Holy Angels Residential Facility.

Michigan

Five Flint-area organizations will receive more than $523,000 in funding through the Flint Child Health and Development Fund and the Healthy Food and Safe Water Fund, mlive.com reports. The two funds were established at the Community Foundation of Greater Flint to address the city's water crisis. Awards include $167,000 to Genesee County Community Action Resource Department to expand the Meet Up, Eat Up summer meal program and establish year-round sites for weekend meals, $96,000 to the Hurley Foundation to expand two programs, and $60,664 to Edible Flint for its Enabling Healthy Choices program.

New Hampshire

The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation has announced that its Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund has awarded nineteen grants totaling $386,352 through its competitive grant program. Recipients include Coös County Family Health Services, the Harry Gregg Foundation, Jean's Playhouse, and Pittsburg Area Community Services.

New Mexico

The Taos Community Foundation has announced that Elizabeth Crittenden Palacios is retiring as CEO, effective June 30. Grants director Lisa O’Brien will serve as the foundation's interim director, and Crittenden Palacios will continue to serve as an advisor while the board conducts a search for her replacement. Crittenden Palacios has led the foundation for the past fifteen years.

Ohio

The Cleveland Foundation has announced the appointment of Rosanne Potter as senior vice president and chief financial officer.
