The William, Jeff and Jennifer Gross Family Foundation in Laguna Beach, California, has announced that it awarded grants totaling $17 million in 2020.
The foundation's grantmaking in 2020 includes $2.4 million in support of COVID-19 relief efforts, as well as grants to Doctors Without Borders ($3.5 million), Action Against Hunger ($2.8 million), the VII Foundation ($1.52 million), and Salvation Army Homeless Shelter Anaheim ($1.4 million). Local recipients of COVID-19 relief grants include the Second Harvest Food Bank, Orange County Food Bank, the Laguna Food Pantry, and United Way of Greater Los Angeles.
"Jennifer, Jeff, and I have tried this year to identify and support organizations doing their best to bring relief and assistance during the pandemic," said Gross, who signed the Giving Pledge in January. "I believe in donating to where it can do the most good, when it is most needed. Whether it is restaurant employees, domestic workers, or unemployed musicians, anyone affected by the pandemic, whether directly or indirectly, deserves assistance to help get through this challenging time."
