McDonald's has announced a five-year, $100 million commitment to Ronald McDonald House Charities, which provides families with critically ill or injured children undergoing medical care away from home with lodging and other resources.
With donations to RMHC down this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, McDonald's, as part of the commitment, has launched a social media challenge to raise awareness of and funds for the charity. Through the end of the year, McDonald's will give $100 in the name of every person who posts, with the hashtag #HereForRMHC, a photo or video of themselves making the "RMHC heart."
"Anyone who knows us, knows that the most important thing to us is family," said Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, who are helping promote the challenge. "When you're able to lean on loved ones, the hard times always get a little easier. We can't imagine how agonizing it must be when you're not able to be there with your sick child. We were inspired by McDonald's longtime commitment to RMHC, and now we want the world to know how we can all take action to support this amazing charity through the #HereForRMHC challenge."
